Binghamton Rangers (AHL)

  • 1995-96
  • Size 52? CCM air knit
  • Neck tagging detail
  • Recycled NHL jersey
  • During his outstanding career at Michigan Tech, Jamie was twice a 1st team All-American as well as MTU's first Hobey Baker Award finalist. When Jamie left MTU, he was ranked first in games played (115), first in total saves (3336), fourth in save percentage (.900), and eigth in goals against average (3.58).....

The back hem of jersey shows the AHL patch as well as the CCM logo, but when the jersey is viewed from the inside an NHL shield is also visible. Could this be Jamie's set 1 New York Rangers jersey??..... Back and sleeve numbers are two color sewn twill..... The name or nameplate has been removed from the jersey..... This jersey is tagged as size 52, however it might be a mistagging as it is exactly the same size as his New York Rangers jersey (size 56).....

This jersey came into the collecting hobby with an interesting story. It was obtained from the Rangers organization by the MeiGray Group who in turn sold it to the previous owner for $18 plus $20 shipping due to misprint in their catalog! Don't believe me? You can read about it at www.gameworn.net..... Obtained from a private collector in December 2001.

    New York Rangers (NHL)

  • 1995-96 Set #2*
  • Size 56 CCM knit
  • Neck tagging detail
  • Set tag detail
  • All the cresting, numbers, and name are two color sewn twill sewn directly to the jersey..... CCM AirKnit, Size 56, and Gerry Cosby tagging in the neck..... CCM and NHL patches on the back hem..... Set tag inside the back hem..... Supplied with Team LoA signed by Neil Smith, Rangers President and GM..... Obtained from the MeiGray Group in May 1998. An interesting note: This was the first game worn jersey in our collection and was the official start of Johnson's Jerseys.

    * This jersey was issued to Jamie Ram because he was called up from Binghamton to serve as New York's backup goaltender during a string of games while Mike Richter was out of the Rangers' lineup due to injury. During this span there were both home and road games, but Jamie made his only game appearance on the road vs the Colorado Avalanche. Because there are no official records to support the home jersey being actually game worn, it was released as Game Issued.

The game worn blue road jersey was given to Jamie by the team. (The Rangers traditionally give each player their first game worn jersey as a gift.) It is logical to assume that this jersey was worn by Jamie during the home games, but did not gain any on ice playing time.

Follow-up, April 3, 2000: Nick, a member of the GameWorn.Net forum, took a temp position as one of the trainers with the Canadian National Team. One of the goalies for Team Canada was Jamie Ram. "I was quickly initiated by one of the players last night too. Jamie Ram, our goalie, who played with the Rangers was adjusting his equipment and me being the serious type, who always wants to work hard and help always, asked me to get the "stick lengthener". I said fine, but as I started walking, I stopped and just looked at him, saying to myself, wait a minute. Then I go to the head equipment guy and tell him this, and I go, 'they are pulling my leg, right' and he agrees with me. So okay, I go back to Jamie with a serious look and say, 'Jamie, the Slovaks are using it, when there done, I will get it for you,' and he burst into laughter and some of the other players were laughing."

On a more serious note, Nick was able to ask Jamie a few questions regarding my Ram Rangers jersey as to whether or not it was actually game worn. "Ryan, I did ask Jamie Ram about the Rangers jerseys. He has his blue one, but the one you bought from Meigray, Jamie told me that he did indeed take warm up a few times at MSG, when he had been called up in the white jersey. Does it have wear? And again, although it was sold as GI, he did wear it in the pregame and on the bench."

    Anaheim Mighty Ducks (NHL)

  • 1998-99 Set #1
  • Size 56G Nike knit
  • Neck tagging detail
  • Set tagging detail
  • The jersey has NIKE size and Center Ice tagging in the neck, wash tagging sewn into the jersey body hem, and a team set tag inside the back hem..... The outside of the jersey's back hem has the NIKE swoosh and NHL crest..... The numbers are three color sewn twill and the name is single color twill sewn directly to the jersey..... Alternate logo shoulder patches..... Obtained directly from the Mighty Ducks Care team charity auction in July 2000.
