Lars was a solid blueliner for MTU for four seasons posting 82 points in 153 games.
In fact, he played in every single game during his time at MTU.....
Following then end of his Tech career, Helminen immediately turned pro and signed with the Iowa Stars of the AHL
and was assigned to the Idaho Steelheads where he appeared in three regular season games as well as all 22 playoff games
as the Steelheads and another former Tech player, Taggart Desmet, captured the Kelly Cup as the ECHL champion.....
